The
Lashihai Watershed Green Tourism Program is a collaborative effort to
create and manage sustainable, educational, community-based tourism
opportunities in the Lashihai Watershed. The Program’s efforts include
conservation and community development funding, visitor impact monitoring,
and ecotourism business and guide training.
The Yunnan Great Rivers Project is a far-reaching collaboration between the Chinese government and The Nature Conservancy to create an integrated conservation and economic-development project in the northwest corner of Yunnan Province. By supporting ecotourism development, the Yunnan Great Rivers Project hopes to encourage the conservation of the region’s biodiversity and cultural heritage and provide a sustainable alternative income source for these isolated and fascinating local communities.
