Wenhai Trekking

An undiscovered trekking opportunity is waiting for you just outside of Lijiang.  Nestled in a sub-alpine valley at an elevation over 3000 meters, and inaccessible except by foot or horse, Wenhai provides a perfect setting for exploring the traditional cultures and natural attractions of Northwest Yunnan.

The moderate 4 to 6 hour trek climbs from the Lijiang Valley up the slopes of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.  A variety of trekking routes can be arranged, and accommodation options include the Wenhai Ecolodge, one of the first of its kind in all of China, and the Lower Wenhai Homestays.  With trailheads from 30 to 50 minutes from Lijiang's Old Town, a trek to Wenhai is easy to fit into your trip to Northwest Yunnan.

Three days (two nights) is the recommended minimum stay, although the trek can be completed in two days (one night).
